How I can make a quilt of old baby clothes?
I am not an experienced quilter, barely even sew, but I would love to have my clothes children from his first year and turn them into a quilt of memories. I do not want to be seen as an expected pattern, just a lot of memories attached with small pieces. Do I have to sew by hand? I love to use a machine! Different tissues are going to be tough? How do I attach the batting? How do I do enough strong enough to last? I know I have a lot of questions, but I think it is as clear an idea and really want to be able to do this for him! I'd appreciate any advice, advice, or patterns! Thanks!
You have to stabilize knitwear with a weight of iron in the interface (sold near the fabric cutting table.) This will prevent it from stretching as you sew. Cut the webs best use. Attach a 1 / 4 "seam allowance. This sounds too narrow, but it is the rule has been used for many years. To use a larger seam allowance, okay. Get the top reconstructed (quilting jargon adequacy blocks and bits and pieces). Even the sides. From this it can tell how much of batting and fabric to the support they need. The thinner the batter will be easier the quilt layers (superior batting and backing). Do not use craft batting, as it has no ability to be washed in a washing machine. Once you have layers of the quilt, pin to hold all in place. Sew around the outer edges to help keep them together and then apply the link. Make your own link cotton or loose pieces of leftovers. binding style French is stronger. Is a double bond instead of a single link and support wear. Cut the binding release of 2.5 "wide double y. Align the raw edges of the junction with the raw edges of the quilt. Sew the sides first. Turn back and sew by hand or machine stitch in place. Repeat the procedure for the top and bottom. Make a little seam in the top of the quilt to hold the layers together. You can sew some designs on clothing, make scribbles or echo the seam line, where the blocks and pieces were sewn together. Hand embroidery child name, date the quilt was made and his name on the back to remember.
